Upgraded to Restricted Byways) (South West Coast Path National Trail)
Definitive Map and Statement Modification Order 2014

The above Order, made on 10 October 2014, if confirmed as made, will modify the definitive map and statement for the area by upgrading Bridleways in the West Dorset District to Restricted Byways as follows:

Bridleway 4, Winterbourne Steepleton
From its junction with the C122 road at SY 61578773, a stone/gravel track, east south east to its junction with Bridleway 8, Portesham at SY 61668771 then between hedge and fence, south east to its junction with Bridleway 3 at SY 61878752 and continuing south east to its junction with the current Bridleway 9, Portesham at the parish boundary at SY 61928747. The width varies:3.5 metres at SY 61578773 narrowing to 2.5 metres at SY 61668771, 4 metres between SY 61668771 and SY 61928747. Limitation: Field gate at SY 61928747.

Part of Bridleway 9, Portesham (to be renumbered Restricted Byway 45)
From the parish boundary with Winterbourne Steepleton at SY 61928747, south south east, between hedge and fence to its junction with Bridleway 43 at SY 61988741. Width: 4 metres.

Bridleway 43, Portesham
From its junction with Bridleway 9 and proposed Restricted Byway 45 at SY 61988741, a grassed surfaced path, south east to its junction with the current Bridleway 17, Winterborne St Martin at the parish boundary at SY 62188725. The width varies from 4 metres at SY 61988741 to 6 metres at SY 62188725. Limitation: Field gate at SY 62188725.

Bridleway 17, Winterborne St Martin
From its junction with the current Bridleway 43, Portesham at the parish boundary at SY 62188725, a grass and stone surfaced path, fenced on the south western side, south east up Bronkham Hill crossing the field boundary at SY 62448708, to its junction with Bridleway 12 at SY 62548698 and continuing south east to its junction with the current
Bridleway 11, Portesham at the parish boundary at SY 62788675. The width varies: 6 metres at SY 62188725, 3.5 metres between SY 62188725, SY 62448708, SY 62548698 and SY 62788675.

Bridleway 11, Portesham
From its junction with the current Bridleway 17, Winterborne St Martin at the parish boundary at SY 62788675, a stone and grass track, south east down Bronkham Hill to its junction with Footpath 10 at SY 62898667, continuing east along the track to its junction with Footpath 13 and the current Bridleway 8, Winterborne St Martin at the parish boundary at SY 63198661. Width: 3.5 metres. Limitation: Field gate at SY 63198661.

Bridleway 8, Winterborne St Martin
From its junction with the current Bridleway 11 and Footpath 13, Portesham at the parish boundary at SY 63198661. a stone and grass track fenced on the southern side, east and east north east, parallel with the parish boundary, to its junction with Bridleway 14, Portesham at SY 63448666, continuing north east along the track via the field boundary
at SY 63588674, then east to its junction with Bridleway 10 at SY 63728678. Continue east to the field boundary north of the tumuli at SY 64238675 and south east between the tumuli to SY 64268673, then east to its junction with Footpath 15, Portesham at SY 64528670 and east, up Ridge Hill, to its junction with Bridleway 7 at SY 64768668.
Continue east, via field boundaries at SY 65158667 and SY 65688664 and continuing east to its junction with the B3159 road at Gould's Hill at SY 66278657. The width varies: 3.5 metres between SY 63198661, SY 63448666, SY 63588674, SY 63728678, SY 64238675, SY 64268673, SY 64528670 and SY 65158667 except at SY 64238675 where
the width is 3 metres; 4 metres from SY 65158667, widening to 4.5 metres after 1.1 km, then narrowing to 2.5 metres up to SY 66278657; 3 metres splay at SY 66278657. Limitations: Field gates at SY 63198661 and SY 64238675.

A copy of the Order and the Order map may be seen free of charge at Reception, County Hall, Colliton Park, Dorchester during normal office hours. Copies of the Order and map may be bought there for £10.00. (Cheques should be made payable to Dorset County Council.)

Any representation or objection relating to the Order must be sent in writing to Vanessa Penny, Definitive Map Team Manager, Environment and the Economy Directorate, Dorset County Council, County Hall, Colliton Park, Dorchester, Dorset DTI 1XJ (Ref: RW/T409) not later than 5 December 2014, and applicants are requested to state the
grounds on which it is made. Any letters received will be made available for public inspection.

lf no representations or objections are duly made to the Order, or if any so made are withdrawn, the Dorset County Council, instead of submitting the Order to the Secretary of State for the Department for Environment, Food and Rural Affairs may itself confirm the Order. lf the Order is submitted to the Secretary of State, any representations or objections which have been duly made and not withdrawn will be sent with it.
